Creative Technology Intern at Local Projects in Summer 2019.

In the summer of 2019, I interned at Local Projects in New York City as a Creative Technologist.

My intern project involved working in a team with engineers, visual experience designers, art directors, and a project manager to design and implement 3 interactive galleries for a linguistic museum Planet Word.

Production

I co-implemented a speech processing application. It triggers animations via a Show Control System for a 6 projector edge-blended and projection-mapped 3rd surface, based on speech input. It listens for keywords using Azure's Speech API. The speech software was built with the C#/.NET/WPF framework. I was in charge of the remote testing for this software during a mockup in New Orleans, and implementing the multi-channel inputs utilizing Dante Virtual Soundcard (audio over ethernet), from an AV integrator’s DSP system.

For Planet Word, I also implemented a recording booth with real-time graphics using OpenCV in C#/Unity that encourages visitors to share their personal stories. The software has a fully modularized HTTP networking system that communicates with other front end devices, a Show Control System, a backend file server, and a content management system via a WebAPI. I was responsible for the integration testing for this software and to that end, built an iPad application to serve as a remote control to rapidly test each mode and module of the software.

Concept Design

In addition to my production work on Planet Word, I was brought into a concept phase team as the Creative Technologist representative for a Paris-based fashion brand, to design their corporate experience center. I contributed to the concept deck specifically around the use of sound integrated with the technology experiences. This concept deck was presented to the client, and Local Projects was awarded the project!
